Egret in Calcasieu Swamp
Sam Houston
Jones State Park,
Louisiana
(June 2001)
I'd driven through southern Louisiana many
times before but I'd never camped at this wonderful park with the funny
name. The campsites here are right next to a swamp and the chorus of
crickets and bull frogs that night really cracked me up. While eating breakfast the next morning, I
spotted an egret looking for his breakfast. This
is one of my 10
Favorite State Parks in the U.S.
