Where My Ancestors Landed in 1634
Ipswich, Massachusetts (July 2001)
Being a genealogy buff, I'd spent many years
in Portland researching my
family roots before leaving on this trip. The name
"Ipswich, Massachusetts" kept popping up, so I decided to check it
out. With the help of a
friendly librarian there, I discovered
that my ancestors landed at this exact spot in 1634, having sailed from
England on the ship "Elizabeth." After doing years of
research, I was pretty excited to sit here
and imagine the scene.
