Gravestone
Webster,
South Dakota (July 2001)
Years ago, my mother told me that her ancestors
came from Norway in the 1800s and homesteaded near Webster, South Dakota.
Webster, therefore, was one of my prime destinations. After
spending a week there, I pieced together the story of my
great-great-grandparents, Ole and Birgit Svang, and was humbled to find their gravestone sitting on a
windswept prairie a few miles from their homestead.
