I never knew much about cricket before I went
to New Zealand, but I learned in a hurry. After watching cricket on
T.V. for the previous week, I spotted this game while walking around
Christchurch. As I sat under a tree watching the game, another spectator, an elderly gentleman, explained the rules to me. It's a fascinating
sport with a lot of quirks -- something like an eight-hour baseball game
with a break for tea.
