Kids, Don't Try This at Home

The first time I heard of "vegemite" was
about 20 years ago in the song, "Down Under." I didn't know
what it was but it sounded delicious. When I got to Australia, I
learned otherwise. It smells like yeast, looks like tar, and tastes
like salt. One evening, an Aussie friend suggested that I spread it
very thinly (doh!). When applied correctly, it's actually
not too bad.
