Hauling Out
Port
Orford, Oregon (June 2002)
I've driven the entire length of the Oregon
Coast Highway several times and one of the most interesting places on
the coast, I think, is the Port Orford "marina." There's no natural
harbor here, so the fishing boats are parked on the wharf at night.
Each morning,
the boats are lowered into the water and every evening, they're hoisted
out. If you ask the folks here how things are going, they'll say, "Up
and down."
