Dueling Warships
Anacortes,
Washington (August
2002)
In the summer of 2002, I returned to
Washington after my second trip around the U.S. I drove down to Anacortes one
day and hopped on the square-rigged sailing ship Lady Washington for a
three-hour "battle sail" with another ship, the Hawaiian Chieftain.
That's the Chieftain firing a broadside with Mt. Baker, which set the
all-time world snowfall record a few years ago, off in the distance.
