Most people who drive between northern and southern California take either U.S. 101 (kind of boring) or Interstate 5 (really boring). I wasn't in a hurry on this trip so I opted for the much slower coastal route, California Highway 1, which I hadn't driven in almost 20 years. It's a spectacular drive and was well worth the few extra hours. This is at a vista point south of Big Sur.
