My favorite TV show in the 1970s when I was a kid was the CBS series, "The Waltons." Schuyler is
the "real" Waltons Mountain, the town where Walton's creator, Earl Hamner, had grown up during the Great
Depression and which he based the TV show on. I'd visited Schuyler once before, in 1985. I stopped by again
on this trip and was pleased to see a new Waltons Museum there. Near the museum stands the childhood home of Earl Hamner,
which is owned by Earl's youngest brother, James (the "Jim-Bob" character from the show). I saw a light
on as I walked by, so I figured maybe he was inside watching "The Waltons."
