I'm a genealogy buff and before leaving on this trip, I'd spent many years in Portland researching my family's roots. The name "Ipswich, Massachusetts" kept popping up in my research so I decided to check it out on this trip. With the help of a friendly librarian there, I discovered that my ancestors landed at this spot in 1634, having sailed from England on the ship "Elizabeth." After doing many years of research, I was excited to sit here and imagine the scene.
