57).  Four-Mile Beach    Port Douglas, Australia (March 2002)

After spending two weeks driving across the bone-dry Outback, it felt great to reach the coast.  I planted myself here in Port Douglas for nearly a week and had a good time visiting the Daintree rainforest, swimming on the Great Barrier Reef, savoring the balmy weather and tropical downpours, and, of course, updating my website.  I liked everything about Port Douglas -- except the deadly box jellyfishes that frequent the beaches here.
