75).  The San Antonio School    San Antonio, Belize (February 2008)

One of the best experiences of my life was volunteering for a week in the jungles of Belize in February 2008.  Our group of 23 from Portland worked with ProBelize, an NGO that's like a privately-run Peace Corps.  We spent the week working in two villages there.  In Succotz, near the Guatemalan border, we helped build a library and in San Antonio we fixed up an elementary school.  I was humbled by my experience in Belize the kindness of villagers, the stark poverty, the incredible beauty and the cultural heritage.  I received much more than I ever gave.
