Probably the most enjoyable job I ever had was working as a seasonal ranger in the San Juan Mountains of southwestern Colorado. I worked there for six summers with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). It was a lot of work and didn't pay much, but it was also a lot of fun and a lifelong dream. This is my 1987 crew. Left to right: Ranger Del, Laurie, Todd, Stuart, and Bob. I hadn't been to Lake City for several years before my visit there in 2002, but I was glad to see that it hadn't changed much. I've posted a photo gallery of my life as a BLM ranger in the San Juans during the 1980s on this page.
