1946 Collier's Magazine Article: SACO and General Tai Li
I found this four-page article in my dad's collection of papers shortly after he died in 2002. Written by Lieutenant Commander Charles
Dobbins, a Public Relations director for SACO during World War II, it was published in Collier's magazine in February 1946 and describes SACO and General Tai Li.
Ironically, just a few weeks after this article was printed, General Tai Li died in a plane crash in China.
This is one of the few magazine articles ever written about General Tai Li, the co-leader of SACO and the director of the Chinese Bureau of
Investigation and Statistics (B.I.S.), the Chinese version of the C.I.A. Tai Li was the second-most powerful man in China during World War II,
after the Chinese President, Chiang Kai-shek.
This article offer a good description and summary of SACO. If you want an in-depth description of SACO, you should read the book,
"A Different Kind of War," written by SACO's other co-leader, Vice Admiral Milton Miles.
